The world's lightest and fastest full suspension aluminium bike. This is the Specialized Chisel, which is 18.4% lighter than its closest competitor and shares geometry and kinematics with the World Cup-ready Epic 8. Chisel delivers performance you can feel - whether you're racing "between the stripes" or tackling local trails.
Made with D'Aluisio Smartweld technology, the Chisel boasts the lightest aluminium XC frameset in its class. Each engineered frame tube features continuously variable wall thicknesses and shaping that provide stiffness where you need it - for efficiency - and a smooth ride where you want it - for comfort and optimal handling.
With 110mm of Ride Dynamics tuned suspension, the Chisel's high-performance pedigree can be traced directly to the Epic 8, a World Cup racing machine. The DNA of the Epic 8's advanced suspension kinematics, Ride Dynamics-tuned suspension and progressive geometry honed on technical World Cup trails are all found in the Chisel, making it more than capable of handling varied terrain with confidence and speed.
The Chisel is the most efficient bike in its class thanks to the use of geometry and kinematics that are part of the Epic 8 platform for World Cup racing. The steeper seat tube puts the rider in an optimal position for efficient pedalling. Tuned anti-squat reduces rocking when pedalling. Put it all together and the Chisel converts every watt applied to the pedals into maximum forward motion.
The flex strut rear provides best-in-class suspension performance while reducing the weight and maintenance required in a traditional design by reducing the number of pins. Extensive field and lab tests, which are more common in carbon wheel development, prove that Chisel has achieved the impossible - efficiency, control and low weight of a flexible strut design in an advanced aluminum alloy.
The Chisel saves material and weight, thanks to a one-piece hydroformed seat tube that integrates the seat tube pivot, main pivot, and bottom bracket. On a more traditional bike, the seat tube is usually just a "tube" with welded pins and a center house.
