The art of layers
autumn and winter cycling

Autumn and winter cycling is back! The time of year when it's important to know how to dress properly. In fact, the wrong clothes can have a major impact on your riding experience. We'll teach you the art of layering to make every ride worthwhile.
Choosing the right base layer and then combining it with a jersey, jacket or vest and other accessories is crucial.

1. BASE LAYER
the basis of everything

The base layer or spodní vrstva is absolutely essential and crucial for proper insulation and effective wicking of moisture away from the skin. It forms the first step to achieving maximum comfort during cold weather riding and thus becomes a key element for overall success.
The right choice of base layer is an important factor in achieving your expected result. There are several types of base layers, so when selecting one, it is essential to determine the weather or temperatures you will be using it in.

Base layers can be divided into three categories:
1.Hard cold - temperatures ranging from - 5°C to + 5°C.
long-sleeved base layer, with various insulating elements on the chest or sleeves

2. Mild cold - temperatures between + 5°C and + 10°C
short-sleeved base layer without additional insulation elements

3. Autumn and spring - temperatures between + 10°C and + 20°C

2. MIDDLE LAYER

Choosing the right mid-layer is also very important for the proper functioning of the whole outfit. Depending on the current weather, you can choose between a lighter jersey or a jersey with more insulation. Ensuring that the mid-layer breathes well is always key, which contributes to proper moisture wicking and prevents moisture build-up.

3.TOP LAYER
protects against water and wind

When it's really cold and the temperatures are below freezing point, we definitely recommend heavily insulated winter jackets that are guaranteed to keep you warm. But if it's a milder winter and the temperatures are around 10°C, then usually only lighter jackets or vests will suffice and give you enough protection against the cold wind.
