The Pivot Firebird 29 has become synonymous with enduro racing at Pivot. It's the sharpest enduro bike on offer and responds accordingly to the demands that come from the factory team and EWS racing environment.
Firebird had and continues to have one goal - speed. To be the fastest enduro bike for team riders and everyone who races a Firebird. And not only in endur, but also to be the fastest park bike. Simply written, it was created with the vision of being the fastest in Moab and in Morzine. Firebird is your ticket to speed.
Frame made of hollow-core technology from the highest quality carbon. The modern geometry responds to the demands of today's EWS racing - stable and agile, and tuned for each size separately, whether you're 152cm or 205cm. Size "S" is not just a shrunken version of "XL". Each size has its own length of rear construction from 43.1cm on the S size to 44.5cm on the XL size in the "Low" position of the Flip Chip. Each of the sizes is also precisely sized in terms of material. The strength, stiffness, flexibility of the S-size frame is not the same as that of the XL frame, where a different dynamic stress is logically assumed. All sizes can accommodate a bidon.
The aforementioned Flip Chip is a simple pivoting piece in the upper suspension pivot that allows you to efficiently and quickly adjust the geometry for your preferred riding style or track. Turning the Flip Chip from "High" to "Low" will reduce the centre height from 355.8mm to 350mm and the seat tube will straighten by 0.6°.
the Firebird's 165mm of DW-line travel comes from the downtube, is ready for spring and air shocks, and works perfectly with the 170mm of front travel.
The DW-link is amazingly sensitive to all the stimuli coming from the terrain, but also very insensitive to chain tension, which is why it is so effective for power pedaling when not sinking into the shock. In semi-simplified terms - what goes into the shock absorber is what comes from the bottom of the wheels, not what comes from the top of your body. For all the downhill capacity of the superbly tuned 165mm DW line, the Firebird still has the need to get to the top of the hill on its mind, and it often climbs better than other bikes with orders of magnitude less travel. To properly balance the Firebird, the shock absorber was placed vertically, creating a more compact design and space for the bidon.
The Firebird is compatible with 29", 27.5" and MX (mullet) wheelsets. The 29 "x2.6" or 27.5 "x2.8" will pass through the frame. This is also due to the Super Boost Plus rear axle dimension. This allows you to combine the otherwise very difficult to combine: a 29" wheel, 165mm of travel, the right length of the rear structure, stiffness, the right chainline, space for the rider's heels when pedalling, and all in a clean design.
