The Cervélo R5 road bike has one job - to get you to the top quickly, and while a race isn't usually won downhill, it's certainly possible to lose it downhill. In today's fierce competition, a downhill bike that can't maintain handling and stability when cutting corners on the downhill would have no chance of standing up.
The new R5 frame is 130g lighter than the previous generation, and while it doesn't focus solely on aerodynamics like the S5 or P5, the aerodynamic drag is 25g lower than the previous generation.
The R5 is stiff, but not too stiff - it manages to find a happy medium with the mountain bikes.
The drive and shifting are handled by the Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 electronic set.
Main advantages and parameters:
- Racing carbon frame combining lightness, handling and aerodynamic efficiency
- Electronic kit Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12
- Reserve Wheels carbon spokes
